Design Team Tuesday for My Life in Arts n Crafts

Hello everyone!   Today we are giving our once a month hop a twist this month.  I am just doing a regular design team post today. For the My life in Arts n Crafts Store, you should check it out, to see more projects on our

Christmas Creations with Jute and Twine.

As for my project today, I have created an Advent Calendar.  Using my the cut outs from one of my newest stacks from DCWV, Evergreen.  Such a cute stack, so many possibilities!  Well they have these cut outs, perfect for an Advent calendar.  For every season I try to change my 12×12 frames I have, according to the holiday or season.  This time I stripped the mat out and added wide strips of ribbon.

Getting creative all on my own I was really challenging myself on this one since I didn’t use a sketch or spin off of someone else’s idea I just kept creating.

After putting the thick bands of white and red down,  I didn’t want the look of a flag, I wanted the candy cane effect so I used the twine from My life in Arts n Crafts Store.

Strips of pretty papers from the stack to match the colors, (great for scraps too!) I thought it turned out pretty easy to do and so pretty for the holidays.  I used Make the Cut software to match up some of the shapes, and hand cut the rest.  Pop dots for dimension too!  I hope you have enjoyed this project!  You can go to her store to see all the other projects as well.  Thank you for stopping by,  I sure would love to hear your COMMENTS if you have any, it is always nice to hear the encouraging words of others.  Will you be making an advent calendar this year?? I would love to see it, if you leave me your post link,  I will check it out!

I hope it is a wonderful season this year for everyone!

Welcome to

We wanted to share with you some of our favorite calendar creations! So be sure to hop along all the way though to see all the great creations!  Here is what i have made for my mini..

Using DCWV papers, some matboard and a print out on a 12×12 sheet I put this cute little thing together.  Just making a slit in the matboard and covering it with the papers, layering it with the mat and some ribbon.  Using the crop a dile big bite helped alot getting the holes in the right spot for the brads. I found the template on this post on Statia Burlington Illistration’s blog post

Mini Calendars

Someone gave me a handful of those little mini calendars that business’s hand out every year.

I couldn’t resist to share here what I have done with mine!

It is so easy that you could even make your own! And it is just to cute for a desk! You can use a fiskar’s punch tool or mini monograms cartridge for the scalloped edge, and the same with the circle. If you would like to know how I print it out, check out this link here.

Have a great day!

Like I couldn’t get enough Green in me today!!

I am slowly creating a calendar, month by month.  Hoping to do next month for my next project!  I guess it is better late than never huh?  We really don’t use them since we have our iPhones but I love having one around for the kids.

It is March so I stuck with the Green theme and went reaaallly green.  At first I didn’t like it but sometimes if you just add one thing just right, it can be a good one!

I have NO idea who I ever said the cricut made scrapbooking faster but I totally DISAGREE!  This ended up to be an all day project for me.  But what the heck, it was a lazy Sunday anyway so it’s alright, I suppose.  🙂

DCWV Garden Party Stack for pattern paper and borders

Celebrate with Flourish:  Shamrocks

Plantin Schoolbook: Calendar font

Gypsy Font: March

Open stock paper from J’s

The border of the calendar is a Cordinations Gem paper, it is a shiny gold.

Making the squares line up on the gypsy was probably the hardest part.  Alot of detail and zooming back and forth lining them up at one inch, link, copy and paste.  I started them at one inch and then once I got the calendar boxes all done, I had them all linked together and resized them smaller to make them the size I really wanted.  Then used cricut markers for the days of the week.  Once I got the squares cut and the days on there, when I went to cut out the frame, the cricut did not cut it at the same dimensions and what I had it.  Not sure why but it didn’t.  That is why the frame is off centered.

As far as the dates and days of the week,  I have used vinyl in the past as well.   Markers are much easier, it made that part a piece of cake.  When creating the file I had everything on a separate page.  I have the layout displayed exactly how I want it to look when creating the file, then if the position of the cut does not work with my paper saving issues, I will move the cut just to save paper.

Once the main part is done, the rest is all the fun.  I love journaling brackets and loved the 4 leaf clovers from the cart I never though I would use.  (thank you hubby for such a sweet gift!)  This cart will probably be my calendar cart from now on.  It has alot of good stuff!

I hope you enjoyed my project today, If you have any questions feel free to contact me.   I also read all

you can ask here or my contact number is on the top right hand side of the blog.

Have a wonderful day!
